MOLINE, Illinois – Paul McCartney introduced his Freshen Up Tour to the Taxslayer Middle on June 11, and local enterprise house owners say they felt the influence.
The concert drew a crowd of more then 10,000 individuals. Scott Mullen, Government Director for the Taxslayer Middle stated it’s the highest grossing concert within the area’s history.
Ticket sales grossed almost $2 Million. Elton John’s 2017 live performance grossed about $1.1 Million. The Eagles grossed about $1.1 Million in 2002, 2009 and 2013. Bob Seger grossed about $1 Million in 2017.
Jennifer Bunnell came to city from Seattle and stated the Quad Cities made an enduring impression on her.
“Its superb place to be and its a tremendous place to hang around,” stated Bunnell.
Beth Lagomarcino owns Lagomarcino’s Goodies in Moline. She stated the extent of excitement in downtown Moline forward of the concert was “superb.”
The small business owner had a Beatles sign hanging in the front window of the chocolate store.
“We had a troublesome winter, then we go into flooding, extra flooding, more flooding,” stated Lagomarcino.
Along with the weather, enterprise house owners say I-seventy four bridge detours have been a problem for Moline companies as properly.
“Bridge development in fact has affected individuals coming over from Iowa, and other people simply eager to avoid the Quad Cities,” stated Lagomarcino. “Nicely, this can be a cause individuals need to come to the Quad Cities.”
Down the street at Pub 1848, individuals stopped for drinks on the best way to the live performance.
“What I really like is when live shows come on the town and we get to satisfy individuals from out of city and it drives business right here,” stated proprietor Ashley Smith.
“It’s enjoyable. I meet individuals on a regular basis,” stated Smith. “The band members have been in here the previous few nights, from Paul McCartney. Even his private chef. I wouldn’t have that chance if we weren’t in this area.
A welcomed change of pace in downtown Moline as Sir Paul encourages individuals to “come together.”
