LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — Hearth officials say a large Lexington, Kentucky barn with horses inside has been destroyed by a fireplace.

Lexington Hearth Maj. Jordan Saas informed information retailers that crews have been referred to as to the blaze Sunday afternoon and have been advised up to eight horses have been contained in the barn.

Saas stated the roof collapsed and the barn was not structurally secure, so firefighters had not been capable of get inside to verify the variety of horses.

He stated loads of hay within the barn, which offered gasoline to burn, and intense winds made preventing the hearth harder.

Officers try to determine the case of the blaze.
