Free samples. Who does not love those? Free beer samples. Even higher, for many people.

At the new Growler Guys in South Reno, there are forty six beers and ciders on faucet, and you may sip all of them, at no cost, in 1/2-ounce pours. You also can sample the 4 wines on tap (like sangria) and the 12 non-alcoholic handles (like craft sodas and kombucha).

“We would like individuals to return in and check out things first earlier than you determine to purchase so you find yourself getting what you need,” stated Ryan Neighbors, chief operating officer of the local Growler Guys, which is opening Might 15 at 7530 Longley Lane, just east of South Virginia Road, in the same middle as Fumare Cigars.

Might the pattern system be abused, attracting grazers who do not ultimately purchase a beer?

“It’s really not an issue or something we’re fearful about as far as there needing to be a restrict as a result of we know we will find the client something they like,” Neighbors stated.

“I suppose they might sample all 62 taps, but by then, they’d in all probability be hungry and hopefully order considered one of our pizzas or sandwiches” (more on these in a second).

What’s on faucet, he added, will change regularly.

Grand opening celebration

The Growler Guys, a growler filling station and taproom for craft beer, started in Eugene, Ore., in 2012, growing to locations across Oregon, Idaho, Washington and Wisconsin. The Reno Growler Guys is the 12th store.

Besides filling growlers, the familiar jugs used to transport draft beer, the Growler Guys also can fill crowlers, the less-familiar large-format aluminum cans that are filled from the tap line, then sealed for transport.

On May 17 and 18, the store is celebrating its debut with gift card giveaways and with a drawing in which the winner will receive a 32-ounce crowler for a year. Also, the first 500 customers to fill a 64-ounce growler will receive a free branded amber growler.

Wings, hoagies, ‘za

The loftish taproom with exposed ductwork at the Growler Guys gives onto a west-facing terrace with trellis. The taproom, Neighbors said, will host ongoing tastings with local brewers.

Besides craft beer and other beverages, the Growler Guys is offering wings spiked with classic buffalo sauce and four other sauces, garlic cheese bread with nacho sauce and three other sauces for dunking, and several 10-inch pizzas.
