Downers Grove police officer killed while handling crash


On January 12, 2019, Trooper Christopher Lambert was tragically killed within the line of obligation. At approximately four:forty five p.m. Trooper Lambert was struck whereas on scene of a 3-car crash on I-294 near Willow Street.

While dealing with the crash Trooper Lambert was hit by a car in visitors. Based on a submit from the Illinois State Police Fb web page, he had “deliberately positioned his car able to protect the lives of the victims of the earlier crash.”

Trooper Lambert sustained critical injuries and was given CPR by an-off obligation nurse. He was then transported to the Glenbrook Hospital. Round 7:24 p.m. Trooper Lambert handed away.

Trooper Lambert was a five yr veteran of the Illinois State Police District 15. He was also a veteran of the the USA Military.

“He can be remembered for his dedication to the Illinois State Police and for giving the last word sacrifice to protect and serve the citizens of Illinois,” stated ISP Director Leo P. Schmitz.
