Brace yourselves, Dr. Dunkenstein fans – Griff’s sports activities bar and grill is now open in downtown Louisville.

The famed restaurant, owned by legendary former University of Louisville basketball player Darrell Griffith, reopened quietly this week at its new location 133 W. Liberty St. throughout from the Omni Louisville Lodge within the website that when belonged to Hurricane O’Malley’s, in line with a publish on the restaurant’s Fb web page.

“We’re back Greater and better than ever,” the publish read.  

The local basketball icon launched his restaurant idea virtually 4 years in the past at 323 W. Cardinal Blvd. The menu targeted on meals he’d seen throughout his travels for the NBA, resembling smoked wings and home-ground meats.

Griff’s announced the move downtown on its Facebook page in April.

“It’s been a great 3 plus years for Griff’s on campus, but now it’s time for something even bigger and better,” the post read.

Restaurant management wasn’t immediately available for comment Thursday morning.

Griff’s is open Sunday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Friday and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to midnight, according to its Facebook page.
