1 dead, 4 in critical condition after ‘mass overdose incident,’ police say



One man has died and 4 are in important condition following apparent drug overdoses at a home in California, the Enterprise-Document newspaper stories.

A dozen individuals have been taken out of the Chico residence Saturday morning and delivered to hospitals, police informed the newspaper.

The mass overdose seems to have been largely brought on by the damaging opioid fentanyl, Chico Police Chief Mike O’Brien stated at a news convention.

“Each indication is that this mass overdose incident was brought on from the ingestion of some form of fentanyl together with one other substance. That’s but to be confirmed, but we do anticipate affirmation within the coming days,” O’Brien stated.

All the individuals hospitalized have been over 18 and most seemed to be in their 20s, Chico police commander Mike Rodden stated.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation was carried out on six individuals on the scene and a complete of 12 have been taken to the hospital, Steve Standridge, chief of Chico’s hearth department, stated.

Chico is a metropolis of about 92,000 individuals about one hundred sixty miles north of San Francisco.
